HANGAR DANCE

OPERATION MARKET GARDEN

This event is dedicated to 315th troop carrier group and the Paratroopers of the American 82nd Airborne division,the British 4th parachute brigade who flew into Arnhem and Nijmegan. Arnhem battle Re-enactments, Military vechicles and much more.

. Relive the nostalgia of 1940s Wartime Britain on the Embsay & Bolton Abbey Steam Railway steps back to the difficult times of Wartime Britain. Various re-enactment societies attend the railway over both days. Watch out for the Home Guard, Soldiers and Airmen returning home on leave and, of course, the long suffering civilians.

RAILWAY AT WAR 1940'S WEEKEND

Recreating the 1940's experience of life on the Home Front during World War Two. Meet the local Home Guard, chat with evacuees and sample 1940's rations in the station buffet. Re-enactments staged throughout the weekend. 1940's civilian dress or military uniform encouraged.

Step back in time to the Dockyard of the 1940’s and enjoy a fantastic weekend of nostalgia, memories, wartime experiences and entertainment as the Dockyard is brought alive by the vehicles, uniforms, music and activities of Britain at War.

WIMPOLE AT WAR - 1940s WEEKEND  Saturday and Sunday 27th & 28th September   The National Trust's Wimpole Estate, nr. Cambridge. 

 Step back in time with our Military and Civilian costumed characters. 

The Home Guard put through their paces drilling in front of the Hall and then with a mock skirmish.  ARP Wardens Post. A 1940s Lindy Hop in the Great Barn at Home Farm.

Dig for Victory in the Walled Garden.

Women's Land Army looking after the animals at Home Farm and the ATS in the gardens.  

Children's wartime craft activities in the basements of the Hall.  

Admission: Adults £8.40, Children £4.70.

NENE VALLEY RAILWAY WARTIME WEEKEND

Saturday and Sunday 27th & 28th September Steam trains. a 7.5 mile ride to/return Peterborough, trade stands, military re-enactments by 39-45 Society, superb entertainers inc Fiona Harrison, Swingtime Sweehearts and more.
